Liverpool newborn photographer trained to safely complete photoshoots of your precious little ones
Before the newborn photoshoot
- Dress baby in a nappy and zip up/button up sleeper only (nothing that goes over the head)
- Please have a dummy ready if you use one
- If the newborn uses a bottle, please have a couple to hand as they will likely need a mid-session top-up
- If you’re breast feeding please try to avoid caffeine, citrus acidic foods/drinks and gassy vegetables for the day before your session so that baby is as content as can be
- As the session is taking place in your home, please have a small cleared space to work in. This can be the living room, empty room, etc. wherever you wish
- Window lighting is not necessary as I will bring studio lighting with me as part of my kit. I will just need access to one electrical socket please and will bring an extension lead in case it is needed
- Try to keep the newborn up an hour prior to the session. Talk to them or play with them so that they are extra sleepy when its photo time
What to Expect When I Arrive
- I will begin bringing in the props/equipment to the designated area
- It will take me about 20-30 mins to set up
- Please feed your newborn while I am setting up so that they are sleepy when its photo time
Photoshoot Flow
The session will likely flow in the following order, depending on if the baby is sleepy or not:
- Sibling poses (if requested prior to session)
- Baby either wrapped, unwrapped or in a cute outfit posed on a posing beanbag with a fabric backdrop
- Baby posed in a prop bowl, box, small bed etc.
- Parent poses (if requested prior to session)
What to Wear
If you have booked the family portion, please wear neutral colours. This will ensure the main focus of the images is on your beautiful new baby and will help keep your photos timeless
FAQs
How long will the newborn photoshoot take?
Sessions can be anything from 1hr to 3hrs long. It depends on how many milk breaks we need to take and if there are small siblings etc. Your newborn baby will lead the way.
What if my baby won’t sleep/settle?
As a trained newborn photographer, I will do my best to make your baby comfortable and sleepy. If you have an alert little one, not to worry! We can get plenty of variety with them awake.
If baby is struggling to settle then we can take as much time as needed to make them feel more content. Please do not worry or get stressed, I am there as your newborn photographer and friend. We can try many different tricks and go at baby’s pace.
Do you provide outfits and props?
Yes, I have lots to choose from so there is no need for you to supply any outfits. You can select the colour tones you like and can pick which props, outfits, and materials you’d like to use during the session.
How far in advance should I book?
The earlier the better. We will pencil your due date in to reserve your time.
Where does the session take place?
I bring my studio equipment, props, and lighting to you. All I need is a small clear area with access to an electrical socket.
How long does it take to see the final images?
I will work hard to ensure that you get your digital images as soon as possible and would expect this to take approximately 1-2 weeks. However during busier times this could potentially take up to 4 weeks.
